Stents for Kidney Stones

Recovering From Stent Placement

During the first few days after a stent has been placed, you may notice:

  • An increase in urination
  • An increased urge to urinate
  • Back pain or discomfort when urinating.

These symptoms usually improve after two to three days.

How Are Stents for Kidney Stones Removed?

Your doctor will tell you when the stent should be removed. Stent removal is done as an outpatient office procedure, meaning you won't have to stay in the hospital to have the stent removed.
